That Gruesome Cartoon Movie Ending That Haunts Viewers

Among all the mature cartoon movies I have personally viewed, no other has stuck with me as much as the fear-filled ending of the explicitly bloody as well as overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, this Spain-based writer-director crafted a grim, somber , frequently brutal universe that included some tiny , forlorn twinges of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars feels like it came from an impulse to push the medium further, the filmmaker clarified that it was actually an effort to communicate a global, cross-cultural message concerning “the mutual source of each battle.”

That message is conveyed through a group of brightly hued teddy bears , obviously based on a famous series of cuddly figures.

Growing up in a community built around aggression and the military-industrial complex, a lot of the bears are obsessed with killing the mythical beasts, because of a holy book that tells the bears they were once masters of the woodland, until the horned beings drove them out.

A few did not entirely accepted the brainwashing, and prefer to experiment with substances and fornicate in the forest.

In contrast to their friendly counterparts, these bright beings display genitals , definite sex drives.

For a particular particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, the character Bluey, the battle with unicorns turns into a path to control — and especially to authority above his gentler, more compassionate sibling Tubby.

This bear behaves aggressively , an apparent psychopath , and as horror dominates his group and takes his teammates individually, he takes more and more influence on his own behalf, via progressively violent, destructive ways.

Meanwhile, these mythical beings are enduring their own nightmare, as an expanding, destructive monster in their woods.

“In the early stages, it seems like a comedy,” the filmmaker said. “But then it becomes a more intense and sorrowful movie. And in the finale, it transforms into a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars commences resembling one of the most quirky films by a renowned filmmaker, that uncover a wicked pleasure in allowing animated figures curse, fire weapons, or engage sexually.

Afterward it turns into more akin to a darker work from that director, including ever more graphic violence and a tangible link to the actual suffering of war.

By the end, it is a complete theatrical horror bloodbath.

The horror which makes the film an ideal spooky-season movie starts well before than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is ideal for the devoted fans of gore, for enthusiasts of intense movies who want to see a movie they haven’t ever watched previously, and who can handle a narrative that offers absolutely no punches.

Watch it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the finale will dig deep within you and linger.
