Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after that period of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had led some to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
