Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Officials stated the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before running away.
The purpose of the shooting has not been established and no one has been arrested have taken place, police said.
Details of the Attack
Law enforcement said that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a building close to the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the building supervising the implementation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report stated.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what looked like a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but collapsed a short distance away.
Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the assault.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were found at the crime scene.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the shooting, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to determine their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

"I am in shock. I don't have words," she stated.
