LA Erupts in Jubilation as Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
Los Angeles experienced citywide festivities after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Fans across the globe united with local residents in jubilation, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Local celebrations featured a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Online footage depict countless of Angelenos packing city center avenues, many carrying handmade banners and team flags. The team was seen riding high on a open-top bus through the masses, raising the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani stated through an translator.
The parade route ended at the stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and the artist cruising a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Celebrations began well before the procession, with supporters lighting fireworks in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, awarded the MVP of the championship, spoke directly about the victory.
“Losing is not an option,” he stated. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
However, Mark Walter was met with a cooler reception at the celebration. Video footage from the event seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a mix of applause and boos, with negative shouts punctuating his speech.
The World Series acted as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for the city. An approximate 225,000 people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
