Former Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
