Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his position after a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period such as this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
